CBRP Certification Overview

3 CBRP (Certified Business Resilience Professional) is BRCCI's business resilience professional designation.  This designation is for candidates that have a number of years of practical work experience and who possess a current professional business continuity and/or disaster recovery certification.  The CBRP certification is achieved through an assessment certification path which takes into account a candidate’s education, credentials, experience, and accomplishments.  These points reflect abilities as a Certified Business Resilience Professional.  A total of 100 points are required to achieve CBRP certification.

CBRP Assessment Path

The CBRP designation is achieved through BRCCI's assessment certification path. This path consists of three levels: Associate of BRCCI, CBRS, and CBRP.  Note that the CBRS is not specifically a requirement; however, candidates who do not possess the minimum number of years of experience for a CBRP designation will be awarded the CBRS designation.  The following diagram is an example flow of how the CBRP designation may be achieved:

CBRP Certification Requirements
CBRP candidates must be actively involved in the field of business continuity and resilience and continue to maintain, enhance, and develop their personal knowledge and skills.  The certification requirements for obtaining a CBRP designation are as follows:

  • Through a scoring matrix, demonstrate proficiency in BRCCI’s Common Criteria for Business Resilience Professionals (CCBRP), a common set of knowledge, concepts, and topics that form the core competency requirements in business resilience.

  • Possess a minimum of four years of practical work experience in the field of business resilience or equivalent related experience.
  • Adhere to BRCCI's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Points Program.
  • Adhere to BRCCI's Code of Professional Ethics and Responsibility.

The CBRP designation is based on a scoring matrix of points that takes into account a candidate’s education, credentials, experience, and accomplishments. These points reflect abilities as a Certified Business Resilience Professional.  A total of 100 points are required to achieve CBRP certification.


CBRS Certification Requirements
CBRS (Certified Business Resilience Specialist) Certification Level  The CBRS certification level is for those candidates who:

  • Enter the management certification path and have passed the CBRM examination, but possess less than 2 years of experience, or
  • Enter the assessment certification path and posses a minimum of 1 year of experience.

Candidates must adhere to BRCCI's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Points Program and Code of Professional Ethics and Responsibility.

To obtain a CBRS or CBRP designation, a candidate must:
