CBRITP Certification Overview

3CBRITP (Certified Business Resilience IT Professional) is BRCCI's information technology (IT) and telecommunications resilience professional designation. This high demand business resilience IT focused certification is for those candidates who assess, manage, implement, or support IT and telecommunications environments including IT systems, applications, data, and services. This certification follows the CBRITP Information Technology Professional Path.


CBRITP Information Technology Professional Path

The CBRITP designation is achieved through BRCCI's Information Technology Professional certification path. This path consists of three levels: Associate of BRCCI, CBRS, and CBRITP. The following diagram illustrates how each level is achieved:

Associate Level – The Associate of BRCCI is a membership level which is open for anyone wishing to join BRCCI. Membership is automatic when a candidate enrolls in a certification path, or when he/she submits an application for certification, or applies directly using the Associate of BRCCI application. Experience in business continuity and resilience is not a requirement at this level; however the candidate must have an interested in business continuity and resilience and may be currently working in the field.

Candidates must adhere to BRCCI's Code of Professional Ethics and Responsibility.


CBRS (Certified Business Resilience Specialist) Certification Level  The CBRS certification level is for those candidates who:

  • Enter the management certification path and have passed the CBRM examination, but possess less than 2 years of experience, or

  • Enter the information technology professional path and have passed the CBRITP examination, but possess less than 1 year of experience, or

  • Enter the assessment certification path and posses a minimum of 1 year of experience.

Candidates must adhere to BRCCI's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Points Program and Code of Professional Ethics and Responsibility.


CBRITP (Certified Business Resilience IT Professional) Certification Level – The CBRITP designation is awarded to those who are actively involved in the recovery of information technology and telecommunications systems, applications, data, and services, and who continue to maintain, enhance, and develop their personal knowledge and skills. The certification requirements for obtaining a CBRITP designation are as follows:

  • Pass the CBRITP examination,
  • Possess one year of information technology or telecommunications experience,
  • Adhere to BRCCI's Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Points Program, and
  • Adhere to BRCCI's Code of Professional Ethics and Responsibility.

To obtain a CBRITP designation, a candidate must:

  1. Pass a CBRITP examination that tests a candidate’s knowledge, skills, and competencies specifically in the area of IT disaster recovery planning in BRCCI’s Common Criteria for Business Resilience Professionals.

  2. Submit a CBRITP Application that evaluates a candidate’s practical work experience.

  3. Submit a CBRITP Certification Processing Fee.

Candidates who do not meet the CBRITP experience requirement but who have successfully passed the CBRITP examination will be awarded the CBRS designation.
